Coincidentally,
the book I was reading happened to be,
The White Queen by Philippa Gregory.
[Click her name!]
And guess what?
It was about the English monarchy!
So it was kinda apt,
especially at the Tower of London,
but that's much much later on. :)
Moving on,
after meeting with my mum,
we went to the hotel,
and I'm telling you this because the room was.. Interesting.
I guess I shouldn't name it here,
but my mum decided to go kinda budget-y this trip,
soooo.. When we got to the room..
I can look past the small space,
the dim lighting and stuff,
but..
In front of my bed,
which was by the window,
there was a space before the wall hits and corners,
and... There were droplets of blood.
I kid you not,
there were blood droplets all over the carpet,
and it led to my bed.
[I would like to mention now that it was smudged.
Obviously someone had tried to clean it,
which made it seem all the more dubious. -__-]
..Yupp.
Also, it didn't help that the curtains at the window beside my bed,
looked like they were torn by the fingers of a female,
like she was trying to escape or something.
*cue horror music*
And the killer blow was,
when I woke up the next morning,
I flipped the covers to get out and..
I saw a patch of blood on the blanket.
It sounds really bad, I know.
But if one doesn't let one's imagination run wild,
it was actually okay.
Bathroom was okay,
beds were comfy..
Basic rooms for basic rates.
I'm just glad we only stayed a night there.
When we hit the streets of London,
we went shopping,
and I got to have tea at Harrods!
[It's a big thing to me.]
It was lovely,
but unfortunately,
I didn't bring my camera,
so that was a bummer.
At this point,
I would like to say that I'm quite shocked at the prices of food in England!
Granted that it's Harrods,
so the tea was slightly more expensive [£3+],
everywhere else had tea that was a pound or two!
And the food was good,
and prices were generally £4 onwards,
of course depending on where one ate.
Back home,
a scone set costs $10 for 3 small ones,
a tinsy bit of jam and clotted cream,
and if you ask for more,
dole out the cash yo.
But in England,
one large scone, LOTS of jam and cream,
cost me £4,
with a choice of fruit or plain, too!
[Most of our expenses still went to food though.
Cause a girl's gotta eat to get strong and healthy, you know. ;) ]
This really ends the first day in London,
seems a little wasteful, I know,
and pictureless too, so that might be a disappointment,
but I assure you that we took loads of pictures afterwards.
Tomorrow,
we head to Cotswolds!
And I do suggest that you read The White Queen,
though the reviews on it have generally been halved on both sides.
Read it at your own risk! :D
Till tomorrow, my friends!
