Oi galera!

The Night Cycling was a BLAST!
And it was just exhilarating to cycle all night,
though I did worry that we might get robbed.

It was kinda creepy in one area too,
but if you're cycling just that fast enough,
it doesn't really bother you anymore. Haha

Highlights of the night:

1) How we had to keep looping our routes because we were cycling ahead of schedule, hahaha

[When I say 'looping', I mean FIVE KM LOOPS OKAY, RAWH]
[And there weren't just one, or two. *cough*]

2) The food breaks

Hahaha,
apparently my friends and I prize food quite highly on our motivation lists.

[0:20 AM- "OKAY, LET'S GET THERE FIRST, BEFORE THE REST. THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU WANNA ORDER NOWWWW."

3:00 AM- "YESSSS FIRSSSTTT, QUICK, GRAB THE SEATSSSSS!"

4.00 AM- "That was good.. ALRIGHT, QUICK LET'S GO BEFORE THE OTHERS LEAVE. MCDONALDS, HERE WE COMEEEEE."

(McDonald's was planned for the 6 am break, hahaha)
]

3) *after the 3 am break*
Hanns: Oh... When is the next break?
James: 6 am, it's actually the ending point. Why?
Hanns: Oh.. I need to use the bathroom.
James: You can use the bushes.
Hanns: ....

*much, much later on*
me: Hanns! Where were you?
Hanns: Ohhhh, I went to the woods to pee.
me: What?! Seriously?? Hahaha I didn't think you guys were serious!
Hanns: Yeah.. With my friend too. *pretty smug about it*
me: ....

It sounds so dubious, doesn't it?!
Hahaha

4) *3/4 into the journey, waiting for the green man*
Jaena: Seriously Nikki, can you take my rear lights? You're always on the road, it's so dangerous.
Nikki: No no it's okay, I don't need it.
Jaena: Seriously.
Nikki: Well, the light will shine from my heart. *places hand over heart in a dramatic manner*
James: ..We'll pray for you, bro.

[Disclaimer: All conversations are more or less quoted.]

Yeah, so these were some of the fun things we encountered,
and I sure would love to go for next year's,
but.. Guess what guys!

I'll be going to BRAZIL!! :D

It's in the second half of the year,
and I'll be there for nine months,
so hopefully,
I'll get to experience more interesting things to tell y'all. :)

Lastly,
my exams start on Wednesday,
so I'll have to cram figures and graphs into my head.

Though,
as I've mentioned before,
when exams are round the corner,
I have a strange urge to watch videos by certain people.
[And of course, blog. :)]

And this time round, it seems to be Wong Fu Productions!

..I'm trying to limit my consumption rate though.

They don't make videos as fast as I watch them.
But it's the quality, not the quantity that counts, right? Haha

Sigh,
so I guess I'll just head to bed and look foward to
an intensive day of studying tomorrow.

Boa noite!

Dear everyone,

I'll be going for Night Cycling in an hour!!
I certainly can't wait!

But as cycling goes,
I can't bring my camera so,

please kindly distract yourself with this
ADORABLE shot of two guys in costumes, riding bikes.

[I think the one beside the cow's a sheep, hmm...]

Check out the link and watch the video!
It's so cute how they cycle with the costumes on! :D

[Wish I had one though..]

Alright,
I've got to go now!

XOXO,
Rachel

A heartfelt message

[Also, my 100th post]

I met my childhood friends for dinner tonight.

We talked about lots of stuff.
But because they are my childhood friends,
I'm quite astounded at how they've changed.

And one person, in particular,
has become very opinionated.

Now guys,
I'm not saying that we can't have opinions.
And I'm not saying that I'm always right.

But I have realised the full meaning of the devotional message I got today.

What is it?
You might ask..

Well..
It's about what really matters.

'And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?'
- Matthew 16:26 [NLT]

Isn't it easy to say," Oh THIS is okay, THAT is okay.."
But it's actually not,
but because we've been so submerged into this culture,
it has become okay.

[I don't need to give you guys examples,
you know what they are.]
[At least.. I hope so.]

And the one word that summarises all of this is:

COMPROMISE

And I mentioned my friend because,
he compromised, but he can't see it,
because he's so into it.
And it really breaks my heart to see him like that.

He managed to obtain an extensive amount of knowledge.
But.. If we exchanged it for our souls, then..
What then? What happens after that?
What happens to our souls?

And the fact is that right now,
I know at least some of you guys would be objecting to what I have just said.

I respect your opinions,
but the prospect of losing my relationship with God,
and on Judgment Day, not being able to face Him,
all because I exchanged it for extensive knowledge,
or wealth, power, and anything else for that matter..

It just boggles my mind that anyone would do that.
And of course likewise,
it boggles many people's minds that I would do that.

I guess the whole point of what I'm trying to say is,
is anything really worth losing your soul over?

What would you exchange it for?
"Oh.. It has nothing to do with losing my soul! It's just for fun.."
Is it really that harmless?

I have my own weaknesses,
and I'm still combating them every day,
but at least I'm recognising it. :3

So finally,
wouldn't it be sad..

To have thought that one is saved,
but at the end of the day, one is not?

'"The harvest is finished,
and the summer is gone,"
the people cry,
"yet we are not saved!"'
- Jeremiah 8:20 [NLT]

How sad, truly, how sad.

Hey guys!

My exams are next week,
and while I would like to say,
I spent my time MIA-ing to study,

..I didn't.

ARGH.

So yeah..
Haven't even started,
and again,
while I would like to tell you,
that I actually did something interesting instead,

..I DIDN'T.

Not really an ARGH, but still.

Though if you're interested to know,
then

Ah. The famous signage.

..Yupp.
That's what I've been doing. Alot.

I know, I know.
It's almost like a controversial debate
on whether Glee is worth watching or not.

But I just find it so addictive. D:

Stepping away from this sensitive topic,
my friends and I surpised my "lag like bananas" friend on Sunday..
Because it was his birthday! :D

Hahaha,
we gave him this plain spongy cake as a decoy,

Credits to http://kaer-morhen.deviantart.com/art/you-gotta-be-kidding-me-121703812

and his expression was like," You gotta be kidding."

Of course,
we sneaked the real cake on him later on,

Credits to http://www.freewebs.com/theplaceforpicsandgames/pics.htm

and his face became," YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING!! :D"

Hahaha good times, good times.

And yesterday,
I went out with my childhood friends,
to celebrate a friend's entry into the army next month.

Well, celebration for us, anyway.
Hahaha

[Kid. He's a really sweet guy. :3]

And to meet before another friend flies back to Australia.

So we decided to go to this cafe which has board game services. o__o
Since I haven't been to one before,
I honestly thought that it would turn out like this..

[WATCH IT]

..Yeah.
I thank God it didn't!

We ended up spending the entire time there,
playing Sabotuer.

[me: ...What's this?
friend: Character cards.
me: ...Oh, uhm.. Do I have to be a gnome?
friend: *puts down cards* Rachel. EVERYONE is a gnome.
]

It's pretty fun,
though I still can't understand why we have to be gnomes...
Or dwarves. Or whatever we are.

I don't have any problem with gnomes!
[In denial]

So I'll just stop my blabbering right now,
and try to start studying.

See you guys soon okay?
And no, I haven't forgotten y'all. :)

So I'm popping in to tell you that,

IT'S THE 51th DAY OF THE PRAYERS AND PROMISES SECTION!
[Post on it can be found on Thursday, January 6, 2011]

Which means..
It's the last day of the 51 day event!! :D

Yayyyy!!
I thank you guys for going through it with me!

I hope it helped you in any way,
even if it was a little part of your life. :)

Well,
I don't have any more encouragement cards or series,
but when I do,
I might start this again.

So I'll just pop out now,
and till then,
be cheerful,
and filled with joy

Hi guys!

How have you been?

Good?
Great?
Absolutely marvelous?

Haha

And how bout your Valentine?
How did you spend it? :)

How did I spend it?

Well,
I went to a great seafood place with my family!

Ah~
Great food,
lovely ambience,
and dining with the people I love,

I think it went pretty well. :)

So, since last week,
basically what I've been doing is,
mostly studying.

So borrring,
so I shan't venture further into that.

However,
for the Valentine's Day post,
you can see that there were many pictures of bears!

Haha yeah,
that's what I meant by bear photography.
[Remember that post?]

Sounded pretty exciting right?
You guys didn't think that I would have,
the honour of photographing REAL bears, did you?

Credits to http://www.firstpeople.us/pictures/bear/Playful-Baby-Polar-Bear-1600x1200.html

[Aww.. Aren't they just the sweethearts?]

And how about the song?
Pardon me, it's a little too loud.

But Yours Truly here isn't that IT savvy enough,
to figure out the volume meter on that thing. :S

I'll leave it there for a week or so.
And it's a cover done by Brittney,
of By Chance [You and I] by J.R.A.

Check out the original!
It sounds great too! :D

[Psst! You can click the names and 'original'! Just saying people, just saying.]

Lastly, before I go,
the most interesting thing since Feb 14,
was the long, white pavement,
covered with blackish bees near my house.

It happened like a day ago,
and these things don't happen okay?
It's hard to find animals at all,

[which is why on my cycling trips,
I raise an eyebrow at
wild chickens,
definitely wondering where they popped out from.
BUT ANYWAY,
]

to see so many dead bees,
yeah, it was THAT MANY.

And it just reminded me of one time,
where my house was invaded by bees...
AND.I.WAS.ALONE.

Yes,
I was stuck in my room,
with at least fifty bees flying around like nobody's business.

So yeah,
what can a girl do but catch them herself?
[Note: I KNOW all of you were thinking 'scream',
but mind you, if I did,
I would probably have at least two fly into my mouth.
]

Sidetracking a little,
I was trying to find images of bees,
and found this.

Credits to http://figur8.net/baby/2008/01/14/project-bumblebee/

ADORABLE, I KNOW. :D

Okay okay,
back to the story.
So I rolled up my sleeves,
got a little container,
and started catching them one by one.

I ran like three trips downstairs,
threw them onto the rose bushes,
and ran up again,

before realising that more were flying back in through the window.

..Yupp,
not very smart, am I.

So I closed the windows,
repeated the process another five or six times,

..And the next day I got stung in the bathroom.

So much for gratitude. : /

And a bee post wouldn't be a bee post without..

..TRUFFLE IN A BUMBLE BEE SUIT!!!
[Ignore the messy room.]

..Now that I think about it,
after mentioning this story,
you guys are probably thinking that there are lots of animals here..

Not true okay, not true!
We probably have a high count in dogs,
because almost every house has a dog,
and that's ALOT of houses.

But those don't count!!

..I'm contradicting myself again.. Aren't I? -__-

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

I don't celebrate it,
or mind that I don't,
because I'm currently single at the moment.

[But if I'm attached, I make a HUGE deal out of it!]

But that doesn't mean that you guys don't!
So..
This is a message from me to all of you.. :)

For those who are Attached`

You couples out there,
treasure the other, yeah!
Even through the fights and hurts,
and when you feel like being curt,
always remember why you got together,
and maybe that will help you through the stormy weather!

Not a very good poem, I know,
but well,
having someone you treasure or feel attached to,
is something I feel,
is truly precious.

So treasure them and make them feel that warm fluttery feeling! :D

For those who are Single`

Being single ain't a bad thing yo,
you have got the choice of going slow.
Just look around you,
like what you see?
If she's single,
then give her phone a jingle,
and maybe there's a future in that tingle.

Haha!

Again, not a very good poem,
but I just wanna say..
Don't feel discouraged!
If it's not the right person anyway,
then why go through that unnecessary heartbreak?
So take your time to find that special one! :D

As for you single people who HAVE a date,
good for you!
I wish you all the best that the other is the one! :D

Sides,
your friends will be there to share your joys and pain,
so smile! :)

[I know, I know.
I sound kinda naive and 'silly',
believing in that special one and stuff,
but I DO believe that someone special is out there..
Created for us, and us for them.
Wouldn't that be lovely?
]

Credits to http://wongfuproductions.com/

All in all,
I sincerely hope from the bottom of my heart,
that each and every one of us,
end up like the toon Spencers above..

That we will all achieve bliss and joy!

But till then,
if all else fails,

[model: Jovey, photographer: Naomi, prop: Reiki]

grab the nearest teddy bear you've got,
and spread the LOVE!

-Ended with lots and lots of love!-

DISCLAIMER: PEP TALK AHEAD

Hi guys!

I told you in the previous post that
next week's assignments will hit,
and yes, I've not done them.

So..
I was watching this Wong Fu Weekend,

[Wong Fu Weekend = A series of videos from Wong Fu Productions, vlog-ish]

and this video [on getting signed by record labels] from David Choi,
among other songs and productions by other remarkable people [e.g Dave Days],

[Psst! Trying out the Hyperlink thingy, does it work for you guys? Let me know]

and you know..
I look at them,
look at myself,
look at them,
look at myself,

[you get the gist]

and it's just like..
What AM I doing with my life?

[answer to that = *shrugs*]

After watching those..
All I can say is,
they have really motivated me.

I'm not going into that industry,
but I have to admit,
[being in a course like that before]
it IS a lot of hard work.

But that's just how it is everywhere, right?
You gotta start somewhere,
and end somewhere,
but how you GET there,
the process,

it's really YOU defining it, right?

And seeing the quality of work they produce,
it's just.. Man,
i WANT to be able to produce my kind of work,
with that kind of quality,
and be able to tell people that it is something I worked hard for.

Don't you guys want that feeling too?

I'm not meaning anything by the following question,
it's just something we should ask ourselves...

What are we doing with our lives?

If you are on the right path,
good for you!

If you aren't,
then find a way to it!

If you don't know,
then find ways to know! :)

Don't be offended guys,
as I've mentioned before,
blessings are meant to be shared.
And since I am motivated right now,
why not share it? ;)

So yes!
I'll probably not post this week,
because I've got lots of things lined up,
and you guys need a break from me anyway.

However till then,

stay healthy,
enjoy life,
and I'll see you soon!
