Last post of 2010!
Aren't you excited!

Whee!

Alright so,
I spent the day preparing for the coming events,
of 1st and 2nd Jan 2011.

[Like shopping.. And shopping.. And SHOPPING]

Dinner was at some grand-ish seafood restaurant,
to celebrate my mother's belated birthday.
Everything was okay,
..until I found a bug on the lobster.

It was pretty large too.

And I'm actually fine with it,
tho' the only thought that kept flashing in my mind,
was this:

An old fellow dining at Crewe
Found a very large bug in his stew.
Said the waiter, "Don't shout
And wave it about,
Or the rest will be wanting one too.

[For more limericks and the like,
search http://www.alphadictionary.com/fun/limericks.html
]

How strange, isn't it?

After that,
my mum, brother and I went to the Watchnight service held by my church.
It's like a Countdown programe and we wait till midnight,
so we kinda spend the last and first few hours of 2010 and 2011 together. :)

It was actually pretty cool.

So here are the balloons strung on top,
waiting to drop..

Here they are,
when it's exactly midnight, 1 Jan 2011!
[See the screen?]
[Well.. My camera wasn't fast enough, so I couldn't catch them dropping.]
[Handphone cameras. Tsk tsk.]

Finally,
after a couple of minutes of bouncing around..

There was unity in singing and dancing,
it was really awesome. :)

So my friends adjourned to a party held at one of their houses.
I preferred to just go home.

One isn't too keen,
when one has errands to run,
the first youth service of 2011,
and most importantly,
two birthday parties tomorrow.

It sure wouldn't be nice of one,
to disappoint one's beloved baby brother and grandmother,
now would it?

I'm so tiredddddd.
*rubs eyes*

Today, my extended family and I celebrated my cousin's birthday. :)

Well, there's plenty of January babies in my family,
so yes, there's gonna be loads of parties,
as I've mentioned before.

I'm just glad my cousins are home.
I don't really see them much,
since more and more of them are going to Australia..

That's why being able to spend much time with them this December,
is something I will treasure.

Right so..
It's 1.30 am,
gotta be up at 9 am,
another busy day ahead of me tomorrow.

Another party, I think..
And two birthday parties on 1 Jan 2011.

[I wasn't kidding bout the January babies.]

So I think a round of Raving Rabbids,
an hour or so with Scarlett O'Hara and Melanie Hamilton,
devotion,
and I should be off to bed.

I've certainly got an exciting night ahead of me.

The Youth Thanksgiving Dinner was held today.

Man, it was really something else.
There was laughter,
and then there was reflection,
like on the highs and lows of 2010.

And it didn't really hit me,
till the moment everyone started packing up,
and I looked around at all the new friends I made this year,
and how this day then in 2009,
my world was so different,

it just amazed me.

And then it REALLY hit me,
when I accidentally came upon some of my old friends' photographs,
and their Facebook profiles,
and how they've moved on,
or what they did for/to me,
and whether their decisions turned out to be correct or otherwise.

It really seems.. Nostalgic.

Do you guys feel the same way?
It's not even the last day of the year yet!

Sigh,
but 2010 was a really good year.
Even during the lows,
it didn't seem that low at all,
because Jesus was/is with me.

Before He came,
life was written in three letters.

H e l l .

I am overwhelmed.
Aren't you guys too at how life changes?

I love year ends.

Usually it's because it's colder,
I get to see more of my family,
Christmas period makes me feel more jolly,
and again, I get to see more of my family.

So.. After Christmas,
there are year end events,
and then "beginning of the year" events.
[I don't know how else to call them.]

It certainly feels like Harvest Moon.

So that means plenty steamboats, barbeques,
pot lucks and food in general. :)

Well,
I went out with my cousins today.
We had lunch,
followed by shopping and プリクラ.

プリクラ = Purikura [Means Photobooth]

It was pretty fun. :)

Ah, I forgot to mention that my mum's birthday is on Christmas, didn't I?
Opps.

Happy Boxing Day!

How was your Christmas?
Mine was fantastic!

WARNING: CHRISTMAS POST, WRAPPED IN TOO MANY WORDS.

Extra disclaimer:
[I find the need to explain myself.
Because I haven't spoken to y'all in a week,
there is much to be said.
Hence the necessity of a long post,
which I hope you would understand.

If not, to stop reading is possible too.]

[..Shucks.
I never was good at present wrapping anyway.
]

Christmas service was kinda stressful,
but that was only because I was on duty.
I applaud my friends' enthusiasm at being on stage tho'. :)

That night,
my family and I went to a party held by my childhood friends' families.
Well, my childhood friends' parents are my mum's long time friends.
It does make logical sense, right? xD

Because I was sick,
[Still am]
I stayed at home most of the time during Christmas week.

To make it more festive,
I'm dubbing it the Christmas flu,
which to my surprise and glee,
found that many other people were catching that too.

Thank you winter!

I gave out the candy canes.

I got some presents too,
which is all YAY and stuff,
but when I didn't give some of them one back,
I guess it was kinda awkward for me.

Or you know,
when they've given you something nice,
and you got them well.. A candy cane.

Yeah..
I'm still very appreciative of the gifts though.

It's just those kind of situations,
you're bound to face during Christmas.

Don't gimme those looks.
I'm sure you faced them before too.
Lol

Right,
so Christmas eve was absolutely lovely.
My extended family was over,
and my Australian cousins and aunt flew,
my [most] favourite chocolate cake [in the world] over!!

So we had turkey..
YES, THE TURKEY I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR SINCE THANKSGIVING.
And lots of other traditional Christmas goodies.

And then there were some caroling and games..

I'm glad we enjoyed ourselves. :)

My parents and little brother flew off to Langkawi on Christmas Day,
so I spent it with my aunt and her family instead.
Japanese meal, and then Gulliver's Travels.
I would say it's about 2.5 STARS.

Just my thoughts.

Finally,
the Christmas presents I got this year,
were splendid!

I got a silver ring with Jesus carved in Hebrew onto it.
How interesting!
Also, I got lots of soap this year too.

Unlike Natalie,
[communitychannel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIKFORGW3Ig]
[Caution: Obscenities exchanged]

I find soap absolutely lovely,
so receiving good soap puts a smile on my face.

Same goes for candles. ;)

The Christmas post now ends here.
Thank you for putting up with me,
and I hope that I'm fully recovered soon.

Flu feeds on awesomeness,
which should explain for the lack of any.

*cough*

I do not wish to hold you up,
while the festivities are everywhere,
so go on!

Have fun!

Just make sure you're back home safe and sound.

how can I forget,

Feliz Navidad!

I am quite sure animals understand us.
At least, I think my dog does.

You see..
I am now horribly ill.
It took a turn for the worse last night..

And it was so bad,
I was shivering and crying at the same time,
not because of how miserable I must have looked,
but because well,
it's just that bad.

So.. I guess it must have been pretty evident to Truffle,
because when she saw me coming down the stairway shivering,
she started whining,
and when I got onto the couch,
complaining to her how cold I was,
she got up too and cuddled beside me.

Awww.. :)

Well,
I'm just worried that,
I might not be able to finish my Christmas shopping on time.

I would love to go out,
but I can't, I think.

So uhm,
I might not post until I'm completely healed..

But if I'm feeling better,
I might write something.

So thank you for understanding!
And I'll leave you with this adorable picture of Truffle.

Cause they are absolutely alike.

Hey!
Guess what!

I got my results back today! :D

I still can't believe it,
but I got straight A's!!

[I've always wanted to say that..]

It truly is a miracle!

You see..
I've been participating in alot of church events,
and because of bad time management,
I had little time to study for my exams / finish my assignments.

And you know..
Some of my friends were saying,
that I did not set my priorities right.

Well, I did.

I don't know if I did better than those friends,
I'm just grateful that I passed, let alone receive A's!!

[If you'll look at my posts before and after my exams,
you would notice the anxiety.]

So..
I really really thank God!!
And it goes to show..

If you honour God,
He will honour you. :)

[Don't let anyone get you down!!]

All glory goes to God!! :D
And none to me.

TODAY IS CHRISTMAS SUNDAY.

[I'm just saying.]

[Just laying it on the table.]

So apparently, there are different versions,
of how the candy cane came about,
but I'll tell you the one I liked best. :)

Credits to www.everythingchristmas.com

The story of the Candy Cane

In Indiana, a candy maker wanted a candy
to help us remember who Christmas is really about.

So, he decided on a white piece of candy,
which symbolised Jesus' purity.

Hard candy was used,
to represent Jesus being the solid rock,
the foundation of the Church,
AND the firmness of God's promises.

It was then bent to form a 'J' shape,
obviously to mean Jesus.

When flipped,
it looks like a shephard's staff.
Since Jesus is THE awesome Shephard,
I think that was pretty appropriate.

Finally,
three small red stripes were added,
to represent Jesus' suffering for us,
and a single large red stripe,
to represent His blood which cleanses us of our sins.

How meaningful it certainly is. :)

Also,
I FOUND OUT WHO BOB IS. >:D

Bobs Candies was the first candy company,
to successfully mass-produce/distribute the candy cane.
The founder is Lt. Bob McCormack,
and his brother-in-law, Gregory Keller,
invented the machine which allowed for easy mass production.

I was gonna post yesterday,
but I was so wiped out I didn't know I was asleep..
..Till I woke up.

Yeah..

So you now have a long post.

WARNING: EXTREMELY. LONG. WORDY. POST AHEAD.

Before I start,
I would like to extend my apologies to the countrymen of SloVEnia,
which I spelt as SloVAnia in a previous post.

Žal!

Anyway,
yesterday I was supposed to be on duty for the Youth Encounter 2010.
An Encounter is basically a two or three day event,
whereby the days are totally dedicated to lessons,
reminding ourselves of why Jesus died on the cross,
and also coming clean with our hurts, regrets and wrong doings.

My explaination is not really accurate,
but I don't know how else to explain it.

SO. I was supposed to be in one place,
but being me, I went somewhere else. -__-

I'm glad I went though.
I got a free pass to the Encounter [YAY]
and the lessons were really helpful. :3

So.. Right after that,
I rushed home and prepared for the Christmas Barbeque,
that was supposed to be held in the evening.
It turned out pretty good,
and though it was raining, our fire was BIG.
Too big, too. :x

Thank God that everything went well..

And that's what happened yesterday.

Today,
I got some stuff via a trip to Borders in the morning.
I'm quite happy with my finds too.

You see,
I haven't finished a single book this year.
I don't know how I survived, but I did.
And because of that,
my basic grammar is breaking up.

Hence a trip to Borders was pretty essential.
They are my emergency rations. :D

I got six books or so,
and I'll probably do a review on each of them once I'm finished.
I'll start with Gone with the Wind. :)

Can't wait!

Also,
I managed to get my first bear of 2010!
Meet Shaggy,
the scarf-wearing doe-eyed bear from Ty! :D

Right after that,
I headed straight to church for rehearsal.
Tomorrow's Christmas Sunday [DOUBLE YAY]
and there's a play going on..
But it turns out I wasn't really needed,
so I highly regretted not taking one of the books with me,
because all I did for the next three hours was pretty much.. Nothing.

AND after that,
I went to the last youth service of the year. :D
I can't wait for the next one!

The first youth service of 2011 will include Henry Seely!!
[TRIPLE YAY]
[Refer to Planetshakers]

Because I realised yesterday that tomorrow is Christmas Sunday,
I panicked and
had to get my Christmas shopping for my friends done today.

So I paid a lil visit to good ol' Cold Storage,
and got four boxes of Bobs candy canes!

I hope my friends like it. :)

Bob.

Bob again.

Actually.. Who's Bob?

There's a story behind the candy canes,
but I'll leave that till next time.

Speaking of future posts,
I haven't forgotten the Phuket pictures..
It's just that my cousin hasn't handed me the files yet,
so please wait patiently till then okay?

I've actually got lots of posts drafted in my head,
it's just that I need to find
the right time and materials to post them..

Also,
I don't want to post everyday..
Because I don't want you guys getting bored of me now, would I? :)

..Unless you're bored already.
Which would then make no difference at all. xD

If you're still reading,
I thank you for your dilligence,
and believe me when I say,
I try not to make my posts wordy,
but drastic times call for drastic measures.

So thank you once again!

It is 4.14am,
and I have to wake up in two hours or so.

I should really stop living in England's timezone.

Psst! I'm sorry for the careless colourings and too-wordy post.
I'm so tired I'm just doing it off the top of my head.
Which is dangerous. Oh so dangerous.

Hello everyone!
Guess what?

I'm feeling better today!
Yayy! :D

I got miraculously better overnight.
Thank you Jesus! :D

Yesterday,
I was supposed to hang with my church friends,
but they postponed it at the last minute. -__-

SO.. I spent the day playing Harvest Moon on the Wii.

Honestly,
I don't know why I like it.
I just do.

*shrugs*

Anyway,
I was hanging round town today,
and guess what I saw...

That's right, Pixar fans!
A Toy Story Christmas tree! :D
How awesome is that?

Unfortunately, I couldn't take the Buzz Lightyear,
who was right on top as the Star.
Though.. What's hanging on the tree?

Let's take another look at it.

According to Wiki,
they're called Squeeze toy Aliens.
How cute! :D

So my purpose for being in town,
was to FINALLY meet with my childhood friends.
One of them just got back from Australia,
so we were hyping over him for quite a bit.

I just love how,
we don't see each other for ages,
and then we finally meet,
and it's like we never left each other in the first place!

Of course..
Some things change over time.
It can't be helped.
But I'm just glad that they're still on the right track.

So here's to 19 years of friendship!
[Yes, we've been friends,
the moment we came into this world.]

So it's 2.30am,
and I've got approximately four hours to catch some sleep.

Nice.

Ah. I forgot to mention that I've got a busy day tomorrow, haven't I?

Hello. :)

The weekend has been busy, as usual.
But I was still recovering from the sunburns,
so it was kinda painful.

What happened was,
I thought I deserved a day at home,
so I did.

Did nothing at all.

..Which resulted in a massive headache.
Cause sheer laziness = sheer headaches, eh?

Well,
I'm still sick.
But deciding not to laze around anymore,
I went out with my cousin today.

[Thank you Disney for letting me use your picture!]

We went to watch Rapunzel: A Tangled Tale.
It was nice. [3.5 Stars]
I miss that kind of 'fairy tale' style Disney has.
Sometimes, being conventional is good too. :3

..So now,
I'm more sick than ever.
And I've got a busy week ahead of me.

More movies,
more dinners,
more outings,
more events.

But that's okay.
I don't mind it at all,
as long as it's not school work. :S

*cough cough*

Sign that I should turn in early.
So I shall.

Au revoir, my friends!
See you soon! :)

Pshhh. Took me so long to find a picture everyone else hadn't used. :S

My thoughts on
Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader

4 stars.

I read a couple of reviews just,
and I honestly don't see why they diss the Narnia series at all.

True,
their war scenes might not have been as grand as others,
or that they needed a bit of this, and that, and this, and that,
but no movie is perfect since it's written and directed by imperfect human beings.

And if one would just watch the movie without trying to look for faults,
I reckon most would enjoy the series!

But enough about that.
Let's talk about the latest movie.

Honestly,
yeah I can tell that the budget's more limited this time round,
but an overall look at the story line,
would suggest that the scenes were made appropriately.

I wouldn't like it being all grand like the first one,
since the whole setting's at sea.
It would be rather weird if armies started popping out of the ship's belly,
wouldn't it?
Cause it would then seem more like a Doraemon adaptation!

Credits to http://www.top39.com/2010/08/doraemon-cartoons-final-episodes/

Anyway,
I know most of the fans are disappointed that Peter and Susan don't appear in this sequel.
Yeah, I was too,
but a book's a book!
And no one can officially change the story except for C.S Lewis.
And he's.. Not here.

So instead of sulking in the corner,
why not just try to appreciate Edmund and Lucy instead?

I never liked Lucy.
To me, she's just.. Useless.
Like.. She can't do anything.
She just stands there and does.. Nothing.
Nothing much, at least.

And that was what I thought,
until God showed me what Lucy really meant,
and why she was there,
just oh, a couple of weeks back.

And watching this latest movie now,
I can see it all clearly.

The different values that are being taught,
can be seen throughout the movie.
And it's not just the main three [like Lucy feeling worthless],
there's plenty hidden here and there!

Also,
I don't know if you've noticed,
but Lucy is a key character in the Narnian story.
Finding Narnia,
helping to restore Edmund back to life,
finding Aslan in Prince Caspian,
finally defeating the enemies with Aslan by her side,
and more.

Which brings me to the point of,
hmmm.. Lucy ain't so useless after all, huh?

And out of all the Pevensie children,
Lucy had one thing that the others did not have,
and which is most essential.

She was the closest to Aslan.

So sleep tight, lil Lucy,
you are precious, Miss Pevensie.
No matter how much you're compared to your sister Susan,
just remember that to Aslan,
you're worth just as much as every other Narnian.

[which is alot.]

Bear hunting we will go,
bear hunting we will go,
heigh ho, the dairy-O,

bear hunting we will go!

This bear?

....

Nawwww

I meant this one.

Feel the Christmas spirit in the air yet?

Well,
I have decided that I've been pretty good this year,
which should place me on Santa's 'Nice' list,
if he existed in the first place.

So since he doesn't,
I'M gonna be my own Santa!

And so,
this Christmas 2010,
I will be hunting for teddy bears once more.

So you say,
"What? They're just teddy bears dude. Any one will do."

Well I BEG TO DIFFER.

They are stuffed with different things,
and made of different cloths okay?

And I strictly abide by the 'natural colour' rule.
Which means that all of the bears I bought are brown, black or white.
Light brown, dark brown, black, white, you name it, I got it.

I should show you my wall of teddies one day.

Yeah yeah, I know,
I'm 19,
just take it that I'm a Collector, okay?

[You see, it's essential to have a capital C,
cause the small one would just make me sound lame.
]

Kid.

But I have a reason for this post!
[I don't]

Christmas is coming,
so I reckon you'll need to buy some presents for

1) Kids

2) Girlfriends

3) Anyone else

And if you're gonna get them a teddy bear,
ensure that you get the right one.

So I've complied a brief not-very foolproof but will-do guide.

1) Colour

Either pick their favourite colour,
[Which, will most probably be obsene unless it's a neutral colour]
or if they prefer au natural,
then just go brown, black or white.

2) Display or sleeping?

If it's on display, the teddy bear should be firm,
it's easier to make it sit right.
But if it's used for sleeping or cuddling,
get the soft ones. Please.

3) Material

Again, it depends on the person.
The kind who aren't INTO bears that much but still like them,
I'm guessing they might not mind the fabric.
If it's sleeping, again,
PLEASE get something soft.
You don't want the child waking up to skin rash or burn. -__-

4) Pricing

Uhm, it really depends.
They have crazily expensive ones (approximately $5000),
but I've got really good bears at 10 bucks each,
so it's not really pricing,
more on the company and materials used.

5) Company

I've got some brands which I love,
but if you don't have a favourite brand,
just stick to the other rules and you'll be fine.

So here they are:

A) Gotta Get Gund
[www.gund.com]

B) Ty
[www.ty.com]

C) Harrods
[www.harrods.com]
[Note: Tad expensive]

D) Me-to-You
[http://carteblanchegreetings.com/metoyou/]
[Note: Display, expensive]

E) Forever friends
[http://www.foreverfriends.co.uk/home/]
[Note: Display, expensive]

F) Build a Bear
[http://www.buildabear.com/]
[Note: Customised if you want more sincerity]

Alrighhhtt.
So you can check these out,
but I TOTALLY recommend you check out Gotta Get Gund first,
superb quality, reasonable pricing and children friendly!

And you don't have to stop at giving away the bear just like that,
you can accessorize,
like placing a necklace around it [if it's for your girlfriend],
or even string a ring, like one of those couple rings?
Or how about letting it hug some flowers or chocolates!

See what I mean? :)

So, Bear post: Done!
I'll be leaving for Phuket tomorrow!
I'll try to bring my laptop along,
but if I can't,
I'll just see you on the 10th of December when I get back!

Hope you have a great week,
get those presents,
but remember, it's all about your HEART.

See y'all soon!

Edge Merchandise!

Today was the last day of Edge Conference 2010!
Sadddddd!

The 3 days were certainly well-lived.

There were people who were healed of incurable injuries and diseases..
More people got called by God for His ministry,
and you know something?

I'm not a screamer.

I've always been like..
*Looks at people screaming and jumping around*
"Uhm.. Something's wrong with them."
*leaves quickly by the back door*

After I got saved,
it became more of a
"I wish I could dance so freely before God like that!"

So then I started to jump a lil bit..
But no scream. Never.

UNTIL..

EDGE CONFERENCE 2010.
And I kid you not,
from a no-screamer,
I became one of the highest pitched,
loudest, most annoying, screamers ever.

Cause I scream and get excited at EVERYTHING.

And to think I have never screamed in my ENTIRE life before this.
I'm quite sure we've established by now that

my version of screaming = the joyful and excited kind

[Disclaimer!]

So if I would scream crazily at this Conference,
when I say it's awesome,
I mean that it is REALLY. A.W.E.S.O.M.E.

We had 3 anointed men of God as speakers,
if you remember from the trailer I showed you many posts back,

Jude Fouquier - He's 50, but he looks like he's 30. God's blessing man. Anti-aging technology is deemed useless on this man. xD He's so hilarious, if you're in America, you should totally check out one of his services in The City Church.

Henry Seely - Planetshakersssss, need I say more?

Jeremy Seaward - The only pastor I've ever seen, who will give 50 bucks to two guys who took on his dare of gargling root beer and spitting it back into each other's mouths in front of 500 people. Lool He's our Edge pastor, by the way. :)

It went international too!
We had many foreign delegates coming over for the duration of the Conference,
they're all going back tomorrow evening. Awww );

Right,
so if you'll scroll up to the top again,
that's the Edge Conference Merchandise I bought! :D
Don't the t-shirts look great?
I bought the cd demos the Edge band recorded,
their very own songs too!
Some badges, and right at the top,
YEAH, EDGE CONFERENCE 2011.

I hope I'll see you guys there.
But even if you don't,
Russell Evans of Planetshakers will be.

He's the founder.
Yeah, we go straight to the roots.

Bam!

MY EXAMS ARE OVER!!
That is surely some cause for celebration!

I can only thank God for bringing me through!
And it's the end of Day 02, Edge Conference 2010!

Man,
the past 2 days have been one big rollercoaster ride..
From feeling anxiety and sickness before entering the exam hall,
to apprehension while I'm doing the paper,
then relief and happiness when I leave the hall,
and finally, joy and liberation at the Conference,
I don't think I can take it if it is longer than a week!

Well,
I'm sure glad my last paper is over,
I can now look forward to:

1) Full concentration at the Edge Conference

Worshippppp

2) The sun, sand and beaches

Going to Phuket next week!

3) 1 day just lazing around the house

I think one day's more than enough,
we can't laze around too much, you know! :3

4) Getting ready for Christmas

Christmas is just too awesome.

Like,
Christmas decorations,
Christmas presents,
Christmas foods,
Christmas attitudes,
Christmas Christmas Christmas!

How can anyone not love Christmas?

Many years ago,
I remember inviting some of my friends to a Christmas party,
and they said that they didn't celebrate Christmas.

S'pity, don't you think?

Really,
how can ANYONE, not love Christmas?

1.54am,
I am wiped out!

Long day ahead tomorrow,
so I'll just sign off now.

Ci vediamo domani!
